Hardy annuals or short-lived perennials, violas are a petite cousin of the pansy.  Plant them in the fall so roots can spread and become established. Often self seeding. Expect winter color with vigorous blooms in the spring.  Full sun is appreciated in the colder months but not in the summer with the heat it brings.
